WinSCP Installation Guide
WinSCP is an open source SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) and SCP (Secure CoPy) graphical client for Windows using SSH (Secure SHell). Its main function is to facilitate copying of files securely between local and remote computers. The client program comes with an intuitive user interface and provides numerous features such as directory/file comparisons, script automation, and etc. More information can be found at its website http://winscp.sourceforge.net/eng/about.php.
The latest WinSCP software can be downloaded from http://winscp.sourceforge.net/eng/download.php. Please select the latest installation package (e.g. WinSCP 3.7.1 installation package).
Upon downloading the installation package file, double click on it to start the setup process. Then follow the instruction steps illustrated below:
1. The first setup screen indicates the software application that is
being setup. Ensure that the correct application is being installed, then Click
on the 'Next' button.
2. Read through the License Agreement and once you have completed that, select
the 'I accept the agreement' radio button and click on the 'Next' button.
3. Change the default directory setting if required. Then click on the 'Next'
button.
4. Select 'Full installation (recommended)' from the drop down menu and click
on the 'Next' button.
5. Edit the default folder name if required. Then click on the 'Next' button.
6. The default tasks should satisfy most client's setup. However adjust as
necessary and then click on the 'Next' button.
7. The 'Norton Commander interface' provides an easy to use interface for all
types of users. Click on the 'Next' button.
8. Click on the 'Install' button. This will perform the actual installation.
9. Tick the 'Launch WinSCP' checkbox and click on the 'Finish' button. This
will complete the installation process and start the application.
