Trackify Features

We're still working on the features list, but here's a sneak preview!

Ticket Tracking Framework

The Ticket Tracking Framework is a central function of Trackify.

Tickets: A ticket is like a container that holds individual components that makes up an issue, much like how a folder might be used to file together related papers and documents. The ticket container can contain meta information, email messages, documents, calendar events, etc.

Work Areas: Work Areas are logical groups meant to hold all tickets related to a specific work area, project, organizational department or functional group. Each Ticket is contained in a specific Work Area.

Messaging: Messages are an integrated part of Ticket Tracking. In Trackify, all email messages and their replies are automatically tracked and attached to their respective tickets. Trackify users can either use the web interface or standard email software to follow-up on any email messages. Messages with no specific email recipients operate like web forums. In fact, Trackify can also handle such messages like a mailing list.

Calendaring: Trackify features a complete calendaring system supporting recurring events, reminders, multiday events, etc. Calendar events are typically attached to specific Tickets. In addition, each user also has a Personal Calendar.

File Storage: In addition to messages, you can also attach files to a ticket. In fact, a file attachment that is received as part of a message is automatically extracted and stored as a file together with the ticket.

WikiWeb and Discussion Forum: The file storage and messaging components of Trackify's ticket tracking framework can also provide functionality like Wiki-like web pages and discussion forums.

Multiple Interfaces

Web-based Access: The web browser is the primary method for accessing Trackify functions. To this end, Trackify requires only a standard web browser, thus making it easily accessible to anyone from anywhere.

Integrated Email Support: Recognizing that much work nowadays revolves around emails, Trackify includes integrated email support. Emails sent and received with Trackify can be tracked automatically. Mailing lists and discussion forums can also be implemented with Trackify.

GSM Short Messaging: You can use the GSM Short Message Service (SMS) to send reminders and other messages via an attached GSM terminal modem.

SOAP-based Web Services: Using Web Services based on Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), external systems can interact with Trackify to access data and invoke functions.

Integrated Security Features

HTTPS Web Traffic: HTTPS is used to secure all web traffic. Any attempt to connect via HTTP will be redirected to HTTPS. This means that all your web access to Trackify will be protected using SSL. In fact, there is no way to configure Trackify to work otherwise, so there is no way you can accidentally transmit confidential information without using encryption. Web services traffic is also transmitted over HTTPS.

Anti-Virus Engine: An integrated anti-virus engine protects users by preventing the spread of virus-infected content through the system. All received emails and uploaded files are scanned to ensure that no virus-infected content gets stored.

Anti-Spam Engine: An integrated anti-spam engine transparently rejects spam automatically. Unlike most other anti-spam products which delete or quarrantine spam emails, Trackify rejects the spam emails during mail transfer processing and forces the sender mail system to handle the delivery error. This means that there is no spam folder that you need to check occasionally for incorrectly identified spam, no emails are silently deleted (an error is always returned to the sender if an email is considered spam), and error messages are generated by the sender system (Trackify will not be fooled into generated bogus errors to fictitious email addresses).

Flexible Access Control System: You can specify access control permissions for each individual ticket, work area, calendar events, giving you tremendous flexibility over who has permissions to access what resources.

Secure Passwords: User account passwords are stored internally using cryptographically secure MD5 hashes. Passwords can have up to 50 significant characters, which allows complete phrases as opposed to simple words or word combinations.

Account Manager: User accounts, group memberships and site administration tasks are managed using the simple and intuitive web interface.

Standards and Interoperability

Thin-Client using Standard Web Browser: Trackify only requires a standard web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Communicator, Mozilla, etc. No need to install any application-specific client software. This makes it easy for anyone to use Trackify from anywhere.

W3C XHTML 1.0 Compliant: Trackify's HTML web pages are fully W3C XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant. This ensures that Trackify's web pages can be properly and correctly rendered by other standards compliant web browsers.

Web Services using SOAP: Trackify provides a Web Services interface for external systems to access data and invoke functions. The Web Services are implemented using Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) over HTTPS transport. SOAP is well supported on many software platforms including Microsoft .NET, Java, and Perl.
